About Neck Lifts
Neck lift surgery, or platysmaplasty, can transform a person’s profile, giving a sleeker, slimmer look that is natural and youthful. A saggy “turkey neck” is the results of aging, genetics, and weight fluctuations. However, neck lift surgery is an effective way to give a patient the sleek and slimmer profile he or she desires.
Double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Asaf Yalif performs this procedure for patients with extraneous skin and wrinkles in the neck area, which can produce powerful results on its own. Results can be fully maximized with neck liposuction, which removes fat, or a facelift surgery. All neck rejuvenation options can be explored during a consultation at our Woodstock or Roswell, GA offices, conveniently located in the greater Atlanta area.
The best candidates for neck lift surgery:
- Have loose skin in the area caused by weight loss, aging, or genetics
- Have lines and wrinkles in the neck area
- Are any age from 20 – 70+ years
- Desire a sleeker and slimmer profile
- Desire a long-term solution
- Desire a natural look
Neck Lift Reviews
"I would highly recommend Dr. Yalif for your plastic surgery. I had a neck lift & arm lift previously by another physician but was not completely happy with it. Dr. Yalif took the time to explain what could be done to address the issues I had and corrected all of them. Thanks to Dr. Yalif I now love my new look."- D. / Google / Jul 18, 2017
What to Expect
Neck lift surgery is an outpatient procedure and is performed at an accredited surgical facility while the patient is under general anesthesia. The plastic surgeon will begin by making an incision under the chin, or in front of or behind the patient’s ears. When there’s abundant fat in the region, liposuction will be the first step of the surgery to remove this excess fat. The underlying neck muscles will then be pulled tight, and extraneous skin will be trimmed. Remaining skin will be re-draped for a tighter, smoother appearance. Stitches, or sutures, are placed deep in the neck wall, and the surgeon may also place a drain in the surgical site to control bleeding. The entire surgery typically lasts two hours.
Following a neck lift surgery, patients commonly experience some amount of bruising and swelling in the neck area. It’s also common for patients to have a sensation of tightness and pulling, which is a result of the neck adjusting to the new position. Typically, patients are able to return to their normal routine around seven to ten days after the procedure. After a few months, patients should expect to see the full effects of the surgery with a tight, smoother, more contoured neck. There will be very minimal scarring, as incisions are placed in discreet places.
